The first piece of advice is in regards to questioning. The police have the right to ask you to come for questioning but you are under no legal obligation to go unless they arrest you. Questioning is completely voluntary and without an arrest warrant, they can't do anything if you refuse.

The second piece of advice is what you can do if you are arrested. The police are under obligation to inform you of your rights at the time of arrest. You are under no obligation to say anything without legal representation. As soon as you ask for an attorney all attempts at questioning must cease until the attorney arrives. Do not attempt to resist arrest. You could get hurt being that police are well trained in these situations. It could also lead to further charges being filed.

The third piece of advice is to stay calm. The police may try to frighten you by putting you in a cell or verbally abusing you. Stay calm and say nothing. They can only hold you for a limited amount of time without charging you. The amount of time could vary according to the state you live in. If they don't charge you in this amount of time then they must let you go.

The fourth piece of information is that you are entitled to legal representation. Despite the fact that of whether you can or cannot afford it. If you cannot afford an attorney, one must be appointed for you. Ability to pay is not an issue although; they may be able to ask for some of the legal fees after the trial if you financial circumstances change.
